Brody's 1st Prayers

Brody and I have really enjoyed having extra time these past couple of weeks to go on play dates with friends.  We have been to the park a few times as well as the playground inside our local mall.

On Friday afternoon, as we were leaving the mall from our latest play date, I heard Brody mumbling in the back seat. I looked in my rear view mirror to see what he was doing.  He had his eyes tightly shut and he was praying, "Dear God, thank you for Katie and Grace and...{he couldn't remember Ava's name}. Amen."

My heart just about melted! It was the first real prayer I have ever heard from him, and I'm so glad I didn't miss it.  Hearing his sweet little voice praying to a great big God for the first time was breath-taking.  And the fact that he was thanking God for his friends...even sweeter!

Realizing he knew how to pray on his own now, I asked him if he wanted pray Saturday night as I was tucking him in to bed.  So he shut his eyes tightly as he prayed, "Dear God, thank you for Mommy and Daddy and...{mumbling}...we go to church tomorrow and...{mumbling again} we go to eat today and....{more mumbling}. Amen!"

I don't know why, but it caught me off guard yet again and what was left of my heart on Friday afternoon quickly melted away with the rest of it.

I am one proud Mommy!

Brody, my prayer for you is that you always have a tender heart for God and grow to be stronger in the Lord each day.  May you grow up to be a man of God, grounded in faith with an unwavering relationship in Christ; that you may one day be the spiritual leader for your household--the Godly man your future wife and kids will need.

  1. Oh my goodness, that is precious!

  2. Ah! That sweet boy! We are thankful for Brody ... And for his mama and daddy.

  3. This just makes my heart melt. I know God has big plans for Brody's life. Already we can see He has given Brody a very tender heart, a great personality, cuteness, charm, and a desire to hear God's word at this young, tender age...all qualities of a charismatic leader whom the Lord uses to drawn people unto Himself. It doesn't necessarily mean he'll be a preacher one day, but it does mean that God can use these qualities to win souls in whatever profession he goes into. Love, love, love our little BrodyBoy!

  4. I loved hearing this story the other night, but it is so great to read it again! What a sweet little man you already have!

I L.O.V.E each and every comment. Keep them coming!
