"Thank You, God, for the Dogs that Jump!"

This past Saturday, Jonathan and I took Brody out to see the Dock Dogs Competition not far from our house.  He thoroughly enjoyed watching the dogs run off a long dock to jump as far as they could into a pool of water and retrieve a toy in {what they hoped to be} record time.

That night after the competition, as I was putting him to bed, I asked Brody if he wanted to say his prayers. For about a week, I had been letting him say his own prayers at night instead of me praying, which really was just him saying, "Dear Heavenly Father" and then repeating after me.  That night, however, he said his own prayer in its entirety. It was so precious, that I have to share it:

"Dear Heavenly Father, thank you for the fun I had today.  Amen."

Then he opened his eyes and said, "Oh no! I forgot to pray for the dogs!"

So he began to pray again, "Dear Heavenly Father, thank you for the fun I had today. Dear Heavenly Father, thank you for the dogs that jump. Amen."

I smiled and told him how sweet of a prayer it was before he exclaimed, "I forgot to pray for dinner!...But I don't want to pray for that."

Oh that boy!
