Trail Mix {What We've Been Up to Lately}

33 weeks and counting...
Since my "nesting" post a few weeks ago, things have not been going as planned.  I haven't been able to cross as many things off my list as I had hoped to at this point in my pregnancy.  But, with the frustration of things yet to be completed comes the realization that everything on my list doesn't have to be done...I just wanted it all done.  So, I readjusted my expectations and prioritized my list to the very basics.  {Well, truth be told, my list on paper only includes the very basics, but my mind is still holding onto the "but if we get all that done before she comes then we can do this..." mentality.}

So to help with the pent up frustration that comes with the "so much to do, so little time" scenario I found myself in, I have been spending a lot of time at the trail near our home.  Jonathan goes with me every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday night; and I go with friends or alone {with Brody} on the other days.  It helps to relieve stress, and I'm hoping it will make for an easier labor and delivery in a few short weeks.

My exercise of choice has always been running, so it was hard for me to slow down and accept walking as a good enough form of exercising.  I still try to get a little jogging in here and there, but it is definitely getting harder as Baby Girl continues to grow and put pressure on my bladder.  If it weren't for the awful feeling of needing to get to a restroom STAT every time I'm upright, I'm sure I would be jogging a lot more.

So, I've surrendered {for the most part} to walking and biking for exercise.  Brody sure has enjoying the biking...whether it be riding with Daddy on his bike...


or taking hold of the reigns on his balance bike.



Going for a ride on his balance bike has become one of his favorite pastimes, and one we do quite often.  He has improved by leaps and bounds over the past few weeks since we dusted it off and gave it a go again {previously, he was too scared to really ride it more than about a hundred feet or so}.   He has learned to pick up speed and get his balance so that he can lift up his legs for a considerable amount of time.  It's really quite impressive to see and I'm thinking he will be riding a true bike before we know it!

So, for now, that's what we've been up to.  Well, that and slowly checking a few things off our to-do list...such as making Brody's new big boy bed and taking maternity photos.  But more on that another day.

Oh! And, as for Baby Girl's name...we still haven't decided.  We've pretty much given up on checking that off of our list before she comes.  We figure we will name her when we meet her.  It's not the way I would have planned it, but I guess it's just one of God's many ways to remind me not to get too attached to plans.
